About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Excellence: Guarantee the reliability, scalability, and optimal performance of Dropbox’s core infrastructure.
- Automation & IaC: Architect and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions, specifically utilizing Terraform, Ansible, and GitHub Actions.
- Container Orchestration: Manage containerized environments at scale using Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, or Red Hat OpenShift.
- Observability & Monitoring: Lead initiatives to optimize monitoring and logging pipelines with tools like Datadog and Cribl LogStream.
- Operational Leadership: Drive cross-team improvement projects regarding service health, metrics, and incident response.
- Development: Write and maintain custom automation scripts (Python/Bash) to streamline infrastructure tasks.
- Incident Management: Participate in on-call rotations to ensure stable, high-quality experiences for our global users.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: 5+ years in SRE or similar high-level engineering roles with a strong background in hands-on coding.
- Cloud Proficiency: Deep expertise in AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, R53, Lambda).
- Linux Mastery: Advanced knowledge of Linux internals, file systems, and distributions (Ubuntu, RHEL).
- Tooling: Proven experience with Terraform, Ansible, and Chef.
- Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python or other high-level scripting languages.
- Data & Observability: Expertise in log analysis, building metrics, alerts, and building visualizations from log data.
- Networking & Security: Understanding of RDS, network security (WAF), LDAP, REST APIs, and authentication models.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities and clear communication in collaborative, fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience managing large-scale, multi-cloud, or hybrid infrastructure.
- Advanced GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipeline management.
- Hands-on experience with compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP).
- Experience implementing “Zero Trust” security models.
